Halloween costumes are a must for party goers on October 31st, the question is – what are you going to wear this year? With so many costumes ideas to choose from, narrowing it down to your favorite choice can be tricky. Let's take a look at some of the more popular costume choices for 2009 and see what will work best for you and the kids too.

Let's start with Halloween costumes for babies. It's always been popular to dress up infants in fruit inspired costumes – everyone loves the adorable baby dressed like a pumpkin or strawberry, but many parents also like to dress them up like little bunnies or Disney characters. Just make sure that the costume is safe for infants – no loose-pieces that could be choking hazards, make sure the costume isn't so big they get lost inside it – making it hard for them to breathe and make sure they are warm enough if you plan on taking them door-to-door.

When it comes to children's Halloween costumes – the sky's the limit. With so many cool action heroes, Disney characters and TV icons to choose from, picking the right costume can be tricky. Fortunately most kids already know what they want to be for Halloween long before the holiday strikes. This year's popular costume choices for boys are Wolverine from the x-men, pirate costumes, G.I Joe costumes, transformers costumes and Harry Potter costumes. For the Girls, Hannah Montana costumes, whitch costumes, princesses and fairy costumes.

Let's not forget about the kids at heart. This year's top choices for adult Halloween costumes for men are: Wolverine from the x-men, Rorschach from the Watchmen, Snake Eyes from G.I Joe and of course, Michael Jackson costumes (with jacket, glove etc) For the ladies, this year's top picks are: Wonder Women, Nun costumes, Elvira costumes and Bollywood inspired costumes.

Your costume should be whatever you want it to be. If your more of the creative type, making your own costume can be part of the fun of Halloween.
