Accidents happen, right? Obviously there's no way to prevent spilling or staining one hundred percent of the time (especially if you have children) but there are ways to take action when these types of situation arise.
Below you'll find a list of stains and how to remove each:
Fruit Juice Stains. Soak clothing in cold water for 30 minutes as soon as possible after stain occurs. Use liquid laundry detergent to pre-teat items then let sit in warm water for 30 minutes afterwards. If they stain is still there afterwards, apply two drops of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide (only if the fabric is bleach-safe) to the affected area and let sit. Rinse well.
Ketchup, Mustard and Barbecue Stains. Scrape off sauce and soak clothing in cold water for 30 minutes. Pre-treat by rubbing liquid detergent or a bar of soap into the stained area. Let sit in warm water. 100 percent cotton, wrinkle-resistant fabrics and cotton blends can be treated with undiluted white vinegar if applied within 24 hours from when the stain first occurred.
Chewing Gum Stains. Scrape off as much of the gum from the surface as possible. Apply ice to the stain to help harden the gum and make it easier to pull off. Washable materials should be soaked in kerosene and washed in hot soapy water. Unwashable articles can be treated with dry cleaning fluid. Re-apply if necessary.
Chocolate Stains. Scrape off as much as possible. Apply hot soapy water to the stain. If the stain persists, soak the item in a solution of a diaper wash containing sodium per carbonate. Rinse in warm water.
Red Wine Stains. Rinse item in cold water and blot the affected area. Repeat until stain begins to lift. Then, mix baking soda and water to form a paste and apply to the mixture to the stain. Set for 15 minutes and then vacuum.
